Founder and Instructor
David Sofield
David Sofield has visited over 50 countries and lived in 9 different ones over the last decade. He loves sharing his passion for travel, personal safety, first aid, and culture with others so they can safely experience the incredible world around them. His courses have been enjoyed by students from 86 countries and he enjoys learning from students from a wide variety of backgrounds. He developed the first comprehensive online travel safety course and Safe Traveler Certification with Travel Safety 101 for individuals on the market. Traditionally, these types of courses had only been available to companies, governments, and large NGOs. Currently, he works with a variety of clients developing bespoke blended learning solutions to help their groups stay safe in a variety of environments while overseas. When not working with Travel Safety 101’s customers, you’ll find him in the great outdoors hiking, skiing, and scuba diving. He graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
